Morden 55+ Activity Centre

The design process of the MORDEN 55+ ACTIVITY CENTRE explored, identified and gained an understanding of
seniors’ recreation and leisure needs.
The design goal of the Morden 55+ Friendship Centre is to provide a venue for activities that enriches the lives of seniors
and to provide services that support well-being and independence.The design is created for adapting an existing building
to a center that would promote health and happiness for seniors. The design attempts to create an exciting opportunity to
balance seniors’ expanding interests with the physical realities of aging.
The four-part design mission is to:
1. Design a place for fun and leisure
2. Motivate seniors to help themselves through education
3. Encourage seniors to help each other through group activity
4. Create a conduit for senior care
The spatial variety in the indoor and outdoor areas provide intimate-scale places for quiet reflection and public spaces for
socializing. The Morden 55+ Friendship Centre will enrich the lives of seniors by bringing them together for socialization,
keeping them active, and prolonging independence by connecting.
